Michael Phelps is arguably the finest athlete in the history of the Olympics. The Baltimore native won 28 Olympic medals, of which 23 were gold. Before Michael Phelps, the record for the most Olympic golds belonged to four athletes. Among them was American swimming legend, Mark Spitz. However, they each won 9 golds.

Phelps also broke 9-time gold medalist Larisa Latynina’s overall medal record, winning ten more than her. While Phelps was a swimmer, but basketball legend Michael Jordan inspired him, and he admires the sport. Recently, the “Baltimore Bullet” picked up two pairs of basketball shoes from Stephen Curry’s collection and gave his opinion.

Michael Phelps showed off his new footwear

Stephen Curry created the collection in collaboration with Under Armour. Michael posted a story on Instagram where he flaunted the shoes. One of the shoes in the image was the new Curry Flow 10, the latest in the flow series. The other one was the unisex Curry One FloTro, a new version of the regular Curry One. However, both shoes had something special.

Sour patch? These are 🔥🔥” Michael wrote. Michael bought the “Sour Patch Kids” edition of both shoes. The “Sour Patch Kids” edition of Curry Brand shoes pays homage to the famous candy. Both shoes sport an explosion of bright colors. Blue, green, red, and yellow are the dominant colors, with printed sour patch candy motifs on the upper part of the shoes.

The Curry Flow 10 and the Curry One FloTro came out recently. While the FloTro came out in July, the Flow 10 came out less than a month ago in November. Michael tagged Stephen Curry and the official Under Armour Instagram page in his story. Judging by the caption, it’s safe to say the Olympic swimming legend loves his new shoes.

However, it’s unclear if the story was Michael’s first impression of the shoes. Michael took the picture with the shoes still in the box.

The swimmer and the basketballer were part of the same ad campaign

While Stephen Curry’s collaboration with Under Armour began in 2013, Phelps also has a history with the brand. In fact, Phelps and Curry were part of the same Under Armour ad campaign, called ‘Rule Yourself”. The iconic ad featuring the Olympic legend showed Michael training while The Kills’ “The Last Goodbye” played in the background. The video has nearly 1.5 million views on YouTube.

Curry’s “Rule Yourself” spot came out about a year before Michael’s in 2015.
