Hawaiian surfing prodigy, Bethany Hamilton, defied the odds and reached the pinnacle of surfing through her unwavering passion. She framed a multitude of accolades on her wall of fame and became synonymous with the sport of surfing. Now, after acquiring a treasure trove of success, the 33-year-old shark attack survivor is embracing a new chapter of her life, as she welcomed her fourth child to the world.

From surviving a ferocious shark attack to forging a glorious career in surfing, Hamilton has covered it all. Nevertheless, along with having a hoard full of feathers in her cap, she also played the role of a parent with absolute finesse. Interestingly, the mother of three young boys, recently gave birth to a daughter and is super grateful for her newborn.

In 2003, Hamilton fell prey to a shark attack and ended up losing her left arm in the process. However, Bethany’s spirit remained unbroken. Within weeks, she returned to the waves and, astonishingly, went on to win a national surfing title within a year. Even during her pregnancy, she continued to surf, undeterred by her physical limitations. In 2015, she welcomed her first child, Tobias, into the world. 

Now, she is a mother of 3 boys and one baby girl, Micah (2), Wesley (5), and Tobias (8). She named her daughter, Alaya Dorothy Dirks. The couple shared the baby’s name in an adorable 15-second Instagram reel, expressing their gratitude to God for this precious gift to their family.

In a heartfelt caption, Bethany expressed captioned “We are feeling grateful to God for the blessing of family.” and continues to write “We are honored for this opportunity to raise our children, to love, serve, protect and guide them through life!”
