Located on the southwestern coast of Africa, Namibia, with its mighty waves, has gained a staunch reputation in the surfing community. One of the famous spots in Namibia, Donkey Bay, also known as Skeleton Bay, is currently one of the most well-known surfing spectacles. Recently, a famous South African surfing magazine, Zig Zag, posted the experience of Kelly Slater while tackling the waves of Donkey Bay. The account had posted a reel of 11-time world surfing league champion Kelly Slater with the caption “Catch Up Kelly Slater at the Donkey.” In the video, the surfing icon was asked about his experience at Donkey Bay. Slater, who struggled on the swells, revealed, “Donk D***ked me yesterday.” Further, the 51-year-old also stated, “I got three broken boards in one session. First walk around, then my third or fourth walk, and then at the end of the day, my seventh or eighth walk.”

On August 9, a California-based surfer posted a video of staunch swells in Namibia waters with the caption “Why, this why… Because you only live once, because you love it so much, it’s all you think about.” According to the surfer, he had traveled more than 60 hours to ride the waves of Donkey Bay. The surfer also revealed the struggles of raising the waves of the bay, as the commentator wrote, “This wave is really hard to ride and very heavy.”
Wasileswski doesn’t recommend surfers who are not in the best shape or average at surfing to tackle the Donkey Bay waters. And if an eleven-time world surfing league champion can break three broads in just one session while tackling these gnarly waves, these waters can truly create chaos for anyone.
