In the recent surfing championship at Watergate Bay, the four-member family created a miracle by standing in the top three, in their respective categories. Dad Martin Connolly came third in the over-45s category whereas, mom Annika stood second in the Women’s Masters. Nevertheless, talented children Kira and Sebastian came second and third in the under 12s and 14s categories, respectively.

Moreover, the results of the competition made parents Martin and Annika burst with pride for their children. Mrs. Connolly told BBC that the children had to face fierce waves at the contest, yet they gave their best. Furthermore, she revealed, “Martin and I have surfed since we were children and to pass that joy to the children and for them to want to come surfing with us is the biggest achievement for us.”

They shared that Martin has been surfing for the last couple of years, whereas this was Kira’s third surfing contest ever since she began competing. Evidently, the family believes that surfing really brings them together. Despite the healthy competition amongst themselves, they do not feel the pressure to be “at a high level to enjoy it.”
