Yesterday, surfing photographer Todd Glaser shared a picture of Kelly Slater from the back surfing on a giant wave. Through the picture, Todd revisited his fondest memory of working with Haynes. In his post, he insisted the readers concentrate on a tiny spot beside Kelly’s left hand. It was the Fluid Combustion cinematographer swimming at the Ledge at Cloudbreak while capturing the surfing beast. He was positioned at the most challenging spot in the sea. Yet he managed to take “the pass by in front of the lens shot”

Remembering Larry Haynes he also wrote in the note, “He was one of the warmest, happiest, most positive souls I had the pleasure of sharing many swims with, he was an absolute bulldog in the water. “
Furthermore, he expressed that Haynes could swim in the water for hours, irrespective of the conditions to capture the perfect shot of the surfers. For many, he was the man behind iconic surfing frames.
Moreover, Kelly Slater re-shared Glaser’s nostalgic post of Larry Haynes in his story, stating that it was a “good read” about the “Chasing Mavericks” cinematographer.

Larry Haynes’s death came as unexpected news for the surfing world. After shooting the last scene for a film, he collapsed due to a heart attack in the parking lot of Laniakea beach in Hawaii. The news of his death was disclosed by the lifeguards to Larry’s friend, Brian Bielmann. Later on, the surfing community sobbed at the magic man’s shocking demise. One of them was Kelly Slater, who also shared a story of Larry’s writing on Instagram, “It’s hard to imagine a surfing world without Larry in it always screaming us into waves and throwing good vibes. Gonna really miss this guy”.
