Surfing adventures turn out to be the best when the surfer comes across great waves. The notorious waves help the surfer experience the thrill of the sport. Many renowned surfers have attempted to take on big waves as high as 80 ft., while others dabble in incredible stunts. Recently, a surfer showed a unique surfing spree, riding on the calm bore tide at a beautiful snowy view.

On June 12, a video titled ‘Surfer Takes On Alaskan Bore Tide, What Is It?’ featured a surfer taking on the majestic bore tide in Alaska. As the surfer moved amidst the snowy mountains, it made the video look like a dream.

The video shared by The Weather Channel showed the surfer laying on his surfboard while smoothly moving forward with the push of the tidal bore. Shot from a distant angle, the camera featured the tidal bore advancing to the shore in a straight line. After a few seconds, the surfer stood up on his board and effortlessly surfed towards the shore.

The entire scenario in the video seemed incredible. The serenity of the snowcapped mountains and the calmness of the tidal bore brought out the best in the video. Unlike other surfing videos with restless waves, the tidal bore in this clip added to the uniqueness of the surfing view.

Hence, the source gave a clear description of tidal bore. It read, “Bore tides occur when water in shallow, sloping, waterways moves together as a single, solitary wave.” It also added that sometimes these tides can go up to 20ft in height.

Previously, many surfers and photographers have partnered together to capture breathtaking visuals of surfing in snowy areas. One such collaboration took place between one-of-a-kind self-taught photographer Chris Burkard and 1989 Cold Water Classic champion, Josh Mulcoy.

Photographer shares his experience of working in a treeless region

Chris Burkard appeared in an interview with The Guardian in 2022, sharing his work experience at the Aleutian Islands also known as The Cradle of Storms. He revealed that to click the perfect cold water surfing photograph, he had to visit the islands in 2013. The place is a raw chain of islands connecting Alaska to Russia. It was a treeless region with big active volcanoes and with ruthless climatic conditions.

Burkard studied the place for two years, before planning his surfing photography session with Josh Mulcoy. In 2015, he again visited the island with the legendary cold-water surfer. After staying there for 14 days, the duo found one day when they knew that a swell was emerging. As Mulcoy began to surf, Burkard clicked a certain picture that he was very proud of. He crouched to capture the surfer, the waves, and the mountains. According to him, it captured the real emotions in the photograph.
