Surfing might be one of the most thrilling sports in the world, but the risk of mishaps always looms near. Professional surfers like Billy Kemper and Owen Wright have experienced the wrath of surfing injuries in the form of concussions and fractures. In fact, in January, Brazilian surfing legend Márcio Freire died due to strong waves in Portugal. Besides professionals, the sport has also engulfed common people as well. Recently, an unfortunate incident at the popular Aussie surf spot, Snapper Rocks in Coolangatta stunned its surfers after a woman’s death.

On April 30, a news website reported a fatality where a woman was declared dead after being rescued.  Moreover, the surf spot at which the shocking incident occurred organizes many reputed international surf events.

How did the surfing accident take place at Snapper Rocks?

According to Perth Now, on Sunday, a woman along with her kids went swimming at Froggies Beach when they were swept onto the rocky coastline of Snappers Rocks. Struggling to swim, the trio were incessantly dragged against giant rocks, due to the strong currents.  

At 3:15, emergency services were called to the popular surf spot. However, when professional rescuers attempted to rescue the three troubled people, they faced an unfortunate incident. The Queensland police reported that although the rescue team was successful in safely pulling out the kids, they could not rescue the woman in the best condition. Unfortunately, on being pulled out from the water, she could not breathe anymore and ultimately lost her life. Furthermore, the kids were escorted to a hospital for immediate medical assistance.

The police authorities will soon release a report on the entire incident. However, the shocking incident which happened at Snappers Rocks was 30 km south of the Gold Coast, also famous for unpredictable waves. Nevertheless, known for being one of the crowdest surf spots, the incident has shaken the public that often visits here.

Besides these awful events, there was also an incident when a surfer was fortunate enough to save himself from a heart-wrenching mishap.

Surfer saved from dying by God’s grace

In April, 7News reported the horrific incident of a surfer losing consciousness at Yallingup Beach. It is also one of the most crowdest beaches in Australia. While surfing, the man struggled to tackle a big wave that knocked him off in no time. On getting hit by it, the man fell into the water, losing his consciousness. However, a rescuer named Ben, noticed him floating face down and rushed to the spot. He told the news channel, “This guy fell off a wave and was just floating face down in the water probably for about ten seconds by the time we got to him.”

Immediately, the locals and bystanders gathered to rescue him. When he was brought to the shore, he regained consciousness but then suffered from chest pain. Luckily, a doctor present at the beach immediately came to help him. Moreover, in some time rescue teams took him to Busselton Health Campus and he received the needed medical assistance.
