Surfing legend Kelly Slater is mourning the loss of one of his dearest ones. Not only was the deceased’s soul close to Slater, but he was also one of America’s most beloved musicians. He was a legend who was known for his island escapism way of living and beach bum soft rock music. It’s none other than the US musical maestro Jimmy Buffett, who passed away on 1st September.

The musical prodigy, who created hit songs like Margaritaville”, “Come Monday,” and “Trip around the Sun”, has left his fandom to ponder over his legacy as he left the world for his heavenly abode. Along with Parrotheads and the whole music industry, many other eminent personalities have expressed their grief over Buffett’s demise. Joining the community to pay homage to Buffett, Kelly Slater also shared a post on his social media in his remembrance.

Slater shared a series of pictures of himself with Buffett and stated how he grew up listening to his albums and how he helped the 11x WSL champion after his father passed away.

He captioned the post, “I grew up listening to Jimmy Buffett with my family. His music basically outlined the lives we desired…fishing, diving, dreaming about being in the tropics, playing music, and just living the dream. I met Jimmy in France in 2010 about 8 years or so after my dad died and the first day I told him how much he reminded me of my own father and from that moment on he kind of became a surrogate to me, occasionally calling me from some far off land telling me he missed me and I had to come visit him wherever he was.”

He further wrote, “Yesterday Jimmy passed on to the next life. And I’m having a tough time accepting that.”
