The machine’s process seemed really interesting, with a surfer lying down on a surfboard in a little pool as water keeps flowing from an opening in the front of the surfer, ensuring that he stays afloat. The surfer tried to maintain his form on the surfboard and mimicked the action of paddling out in the actual sea. A screen in front of him showed vitals related to the process. This novel machine has been invented by a company called Daikanyama AQUALAB in Japan.

Although it has created this unique device for surfing, the company mainly has equipment for swimming and walking. They use state-of-the-art training facilities that have been designed in collaboration with the famous swimmer and Olympic gold medalist Kosuke Kitajima. They offer their services to the public at large, and the clients can swim or walk in their equipment, which is like a mini-swimming pool. Along with this, there have been some other exciting innovations that have changed the face of surfing.

How surfing has been transformed by innovation

Training and safety in the sport have been revolutionized after the inclusion of new technology. When it comes to training, wave pools can be set up in one’s backyard, thus ensuring that even people who live far away from the ocean can experience the sport. In addition to that, wave pools have the option to adjust the intensity of the waves according to the wants of the surfer. Hence, amateurs and professionals can train at the same wave pool.

Innovation has also ensured that surfers can wear equipment that can track health and wellness while surfing. According to SURFD, the company Modom has invented a new shark-repelling leg leash that can help keep surfers safer while in the water. The very design of surfboards has changed with the emergence of electric surfboards. With the advent of such technologies, it is not a stretch to predict that while people might choose to, soon they may not need to go to the ocean to surf in the future.
