“Never Seen That Before”: King of Aerial Surfing Lands an Unprecedented Trick in Wavepool Leaving Sports World in Frenzy

Surfers are magicians in their own right. They are known to perform astounding tricks on the roiling waters. They make it look easy, which it definitely is not. Aerial surfing is probably the most popular, and the hardest, when it comes to performing stunts on the water. Airborne surfboards are also what fetch great points during surfing competitions. And a man called Jacob “Zeke” Szekely is making immeasurable strides in aerial surfing by innovating new tricks every day.

Also known as the ‘King of Aerial Surfing’, Zeke is an adrenaline junkie and a wave pool enthusiast. Recently, he made waves after performing a novel trick on the swells of the BSR Surf Resort wave pool in Waco, Texas. This is not the first time that Zeke has stunned the surfing community with his unique style. Fans were rightly astonished after watching him perform the distinctive trick, offering encouragement and expressing shock.

The King of Aerial Surfing stupefies with his latest trick

The Waco wave has a history of bringing out the scientist in surfers. It is considered to be one of the best man-made waves to experiment on. Case in point, surfers such as Zeke and Seth Moniz are always looking to execute the next rager of a technique on the swell. When Seth Moniz landed an insane backflip at the BSR, the surfing community was sure that the Waco wave will lead to progression in aerial surfing like none other. And that is exactly what happened recently when Zeke debuted a major new trick as well.

In a video that he posted on his official Instagram, Zeke was seen conquering the waves at Waco. In the caption, he added, “The King is Back!! #KingofWaco 1st Ever Double Chop Hop Barrel Combo!! So Hyped to Be Back in the Wavepool trying New Tricks”. Jacob Szekely is no stranger to helming innovation in wave pools. He is regularly seen traveling around the world, performing tricks like sticking flips, finger-flips, supermans, and shuvits. You name it, he has done it. And now, he has added another trick to the roster. In a three-for-one combo, Zeke was seen performing three tricks at once in the video.

He first eased into a chop-hop, then went inside the barrel, and then performed a chop-hop once again. This stunt left his fans stunned to the point of disbelief. While Mason Ho performed a similar trick combo, one thing was missing. Mason did not exhibit a chop-hop on the way out. This is not the first time Jacob Szekely has taken the surfing community’s breath away with his antics. During an earlier escapade to the Waco wave pool, Zeke managed to land a Superman finger flip. This trick was inspired by skating, with pro skater Greyson Fletcher cheering on the surfing enthusiast. Just like that trick impressed his fans, the current one has also put them under a spell.

Fans can’t get enough of Zeke

Due to the modern and experimental trick performed by the King of Aerial Surfing, his fans expressed a common sentiment in the comments section. A fan said, “Well ive never seen that before”. Another follower echoed the same sentiment, and wrote, “First time I’ve seen that! Very Rad Zeke”. Acknowledging the wave-riding prowess of the talented surfer and his ability to change the game, someone said, “Can always count on something new and creative when you hit the pool @zeke_ love it!” When Zeke finally got down to performing the trick, it definitely did not look like a cakewalk.

Therefore, a comment in the comments section said, “That’s actually really hard”. A fan also appreciated the custom surfboard used by Zeke, which contains the logo of the Starbucks lady, and said, “Saw that beautiful Starbucks gal at the ding king last week nice to see her back in action”. Feelings of amazement were a common theme in the comments, as people wrote, “That was absolutely ridiculous” and “That was sick”. There is no doubt that Waco has become a ground for surfing experimentation, and surfers such as Zeke are leading the charge.
