“My heart aches”: Surfing Community Devsated As Bethany Hamilton’s 3-Year-Old Nephew Passes Away Days After Unfortunate Accident

The surfing community mourns. After days of battle, Bethany Hamilton’s nephew had to concede defeat to death. The young one had suffered a major accident on October 11 and was admitted to the hospital on the following day. Bethany and her close ones came together and stood by each other during the difficult time, and the surfer even reached out to her fans to extend their help to the family. But all of it was in vain, it seems.

As a surfer, being faced with life-or-death accidents is not an alien thing. However, when such unprecedented events take away our younglings from us, it’s never easy to see the rationality of nature in it. But we can try our best to turn the tides, and that’s what a community can do. Hamilton’s fans didn’t hesitate to do their part, but the little one couldn’t reap its benefits.

In her Instagram post from October 11, Bethany Hamilton stated that her nephew has left the mortal world. “The Lord has receive my sweet nephew Andrew into his beautiful care. While my family and I will miss him dearly, we trust that his joy is full with Jesus,” she wrote in her social media update. She shared several images of the unfortunate child, from the happier days of the family.

Along with that she also said why having faith is as important as keeping the optimism high during such traumatic times. “Faith is to trust that Gods will for our life is greater than our own,” reads the caption of the post further. But the family spared no efforts to give the child a chance to survive. Just a day after she drowned, Hamilton’s nephew was transported to Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women & Children in Honolulu to receive the best medical care. “I know how proper medical support can make or break someone’s chance of survival,” the surfer wrote in a later IG story update.

Naturally, her followers are devastated to learn the news. Melissa, a fan, can only imagine what the family is going through right now. “My heart aches for your loss. May you and your family continue to be comforted and held by God alone,” reads her comment under Hamilton’s post, as the former sent her love and prayers to the grieving family. Soon, more condolences started flowing in.

Jenna also noted her extremely disturbed mental state after becoming aware of the update on the child. Revealing that she has been praying hard for the suffering kid and his family, the fan commented, “So so so sorry for this unimaginable loss,” highlighting that the family must try and overcome the devastating impact. Bethany herself knows perfectly well how an accident can change a person’s life like a bolt from the blue. In 20023, the then-13-year-old Hamilton came face-to-face with a shark and had to sacrifice her left arm in exchange for her life. But that would seem the better thing right now.

Another of Hamilton’s fans thinks now the family will only to count the days to look forward to a sweet reunion after their time on the mortal plane ends. “Love, peace, strength and courage until you get to be with him again,” one fan tried their best to comfort the aching Hamilton members. Amy, on the other hand, doesn’t even know what to say right now. “I am so sorry Bethany. I can’t imagine the heartache you are all feeling,” reads her comment.

Another fan also thinks that Bethany can overcome this too. Considering how the surfing star didn’t even let her own misfortune stand in her dream of dominating the waves, Carin believes the former will again find it in herself to keep moving forward. “My heart breaks for you but our hope is real,” wrote this fan.
