Matthew had been surfing for several hours, catching some waves and enjoying the sunny weather when suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his leg. At first, he thought it was just a cramp, but when he looked down, he saw the large fin and tail of the shark. Suddenly the gigantic shark bit his leg. In a moment of panic, he tried to fight off the shark, but the animal was too strong.
“It felt like a car hit me with a blade at the end of it”, Picarelli told The TCPalm. He added, “It’s just the power that it went at me. And it just squeezed on my foot like a vice grip.” Fortunately, the shark didn’t drag his feet inside the waters. It just clamped for some time and left. Picarelli’s friend helped him to get out of the water as soon as the shark left.
“Easily, if it was a few inches lower, I would have lost all my toes,” the surfer recalled. The moment was truly terrifying for Picarelli and his friend. He couldn’t process the sudden turn of events. “It’s still throbbing at this point,” Picarelli said. He faced some minor injuries and was later discharged from the hospital. However, there has been a long list of victims who weren’t as lucky as Picarelli.
A Spine-chilling shark attack
Picarelli didn’t get any major injuries, but there have been people who have witnessed the ferocious nature of the water beast. A famous TikToker recently shared an old horrific incident video where a surfer’s body was never found after a shark accident. The accident happened nearly a decade ago, in 2012, when two friends, Ryan and Benjamin, were surfing.

“All of a sudden, this massive 5-meter-long great white shark comes rocketing to the surface, It almost reaches right next to Ryan, right on his right side, so close that the sprays on its gills spray all over Ryan”, he recalled. But Ryan was lucky to survive as the shark turned and grabbed Benjamin next and dragged him inside the waves. Unfortunately, his body could never be found.
