The water police, PolAir crews, and SES members also joined forces with the people involved in the rescue operation, to look for the missing surfer. According to 9 News, Superintendent Paul Bahr, Officer in Charge of Eyre and Western Local Service Area, said, “We would like to thank the local community and emergency services for their assistance with the search.” Bahr further praised the bravery and kindness of the locals, and added, “It’s not easy when it’s a local involved but we commend their strength and their want to assist.” Bahr emphasized that they were not going to give up on the prospect of finding the teacher, and he revealed that the rescue operation will continue with the help of the officials and the locals.

Surfing jaunt goes south

In April 2023, Max Marsden went to a quiet secluded beach to enjoy the buzz of surfing. Little did he know that a trip that was supposed to be calm and relaxing would soon turn into a macabre event. At Lucy’s Beach, which is located near Geraldton, his adventure soon turned into a nightmare when he was confronted by a ginormous shark. A 1.5-meter-long Bronze Whaler shark took a bite out of the pro surfer’s arm. Marsden, luckily, was not alone, and a rescue team had to be called to transport him from the site of the accident.

Upon reaching the hospital, it was revealed that his injuries were not going to be fatal. However, the professional surfer still had to undergo a surgical procedure to treat his injuries. While it is expected that the surfer will recover from the surgeries fully, Marsden still had a pretty close call, as things could have been much worse. It seems like Marsden was lucky enough to survive the vicious attack. Although, it looks like the 46-year-old teacher did not turn out to be so lucky.
