Later, Khaled shared an update on social media while getting a massage, saying, “I’m getting a massage right now because I hurt myself yesterday surfing.” The music producer, born Khaled Mohammed Khaled, also posted a video of him consulting a doctor and getting an X-ray done. Despite being in unbearable pain after hitting his rib on the surfboard, Khaled went golfing, and even made it to the 8th hole, before getting too tired to continue. While rest was absolutely necessary for recovery, DJ Khaled revealed why he couldn’t give up playing golf even for a day.
He said, “I have to play golf for a lot of reasons. For my mind, my peace. I’m in pain, I can’t even lie to y’all, but I feel like I’m supposed to fight through this pain.” Maybe the universe rewarded the musician for persevering through his pain because as it turns out, his surfing injury actually helped him get better at golfing. According to Entertainment Weekly, Khaled said, “I got the big injury, but it’s actually making my swing super-smooth.” This is not surprising as golfing is embedded deeply in DJ Khaled’s heart and soul.

Music remains his passion and profession. But when DJ Khaled wants peace, he turns to golf. Apparently, the music producer has chanted the phrase “Let’s go golfing!” so many times, that it has become somewhat of an identifier for him. While he tried the sport as a teenager, he started playing seriously about two years ago. And since then, golf changed his life. “Golf taught me to be more calm,” says Khaled. This spiritual connection with golf is probably what is healing him from the inside out.
