Joao Chianca is one of the top Brazilian swimmers who went through a terrible surfing accident while surfing the pipeline, which is one of Hawaii’s most dangerous waves. However, after facing this horrific experience, the surfing hero is now on the road to recovery and the ensuring note shared on social media has shared a breath of fresh air to the surfing world.
The World Surf League Brazil shared a post on their Instagram account announcing the current health update of the surfer. The post carried a picture of Joao Chianca’s family and team.
The caption to the post carried, “We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes. Joao is on the road to recovery and hopes to be back in the water soon.” They further added, “We would also like to thank all of the first responders and medical personnel at The Queen’s Medical Center who have been caring for Joao. The outpouring of support means a lot to our family.”

He was lifted out of a wave and pin-dropped into the water. After this, he hit his head with a solid surface and was left unconscious. Jake Maki, who witnessed everything, stated, “I saw it happen and had a weird feeling that where and how he fell was wrong”. He was immediately helped by the lifeguards and was taken out of the waters as soon as possible. However, now the surfer is doing fine and is on the road to recovery.
