Sebastian Steudtner was casually surfing in the Silver Coast area of Nazare. He wished for a big swell to challenge himself and push the limits of his surfing abilities. Little did he know that he would soon be riding a wave that would etch his name in the annals of surfing history. A lone monster wave appeared on the horizon, towering over everything in its path. The daredevil surfer paddled toward it and was soon gliding on it with absolute precision. The wave had reached 115 feet high, making Sebastian the only surfer to have mastered a wave of that magnitude.

The old footage of the captivating moment was recently reuploaded on Instagram from an account named “surfinguniversal”. The video was captioned, “5 years ago @sebastiansurfs hit this wave in Nazarè, still one of the most epic things I’ve ever seen”. In the clip, you can see a massive wave and Sebastian, who seemed tiny in comparison, effortlessly maneuvering through the powerful force of the water. The footage has gone viral on the internet and has garnered over 220K likes. Additionally, the fans have shared their awe and admiration for Sebastian’s skills in the comments section.

Another fan was mesmerized by the size of the wave and wrote to express her admiration for Sebastian’s surfing talent. “Terrifying and so impressive”. A viewer graced Sebastian with a new unofficial title to express his high regard for the surfer. “The best bigwave rider”. Lastly, one fan left a humorous comment claiming the superiority of German genes. “Us Germans are built different”.

The feat also earned Sebastian a nomination for the 2018 Ride of the Year Award. However, Ian Walsh won the award in the end. But that does not take anything away from Sebastian’s incredible achievement.
