56-year-old Nathan Fletcher is one of the greatest surfing legends. He comes from a family of surfers. His father played the key role in bringing tow-in surfing to the big wave world. His brother also introduced the hang-time aerial leaps and spins of skateboarding to surfing.

Nathan has surfers in some of the most beautiful locations in the world. Moreover, his self-created paddle-in surfing style played a dynamic role in the people who would surf. The surfer is highly famous for his unbelievable ride on a Teahupo’o killer wave in 2011. It became legendary for surfing photographers and fans.
Nathan Fletcher revealed about his worst slam
Nathan Fletcher is a specialist in pipeline surfing. Ever since he became conscious as person, he has fantasized about living water. Surfing in big wave is a piece of cake for Nathan. In fact, he believes that surfing as a sports is not easy and not for the weak.
Fletcher has blown minds with his performance at multiple occasions. However, there have been instances when he had to bear the wrath of surfing. Recently, in an interview with Vans Pipe Masters, the surfer legend was asked about his worst slam. At first his joked about his worst slam being ‘blast’ and just a competition. He then revealed;
“Yup broke my femur I still have a 12 inch rod in my leg with two six inch screws through my hip into my pelvis and one in my thigh can’t ever let your guard down at pipe I feel like it’s one of those things that like it’ll get you no matter who you are and what you do.”
This was not the first time Nathan was injured badly. During his trip to Chile for Vans in 2013, he experienced a giant wipeout that caused a golf-size lump on his forehead. It was quite a life-threatening incident for Nathan. His head was stuck between rocks at one point while he was trying to pull himself out. He was unable to however and was smashed by three giant waves.
Nathan became conscious after the accident
After his 2013 incident in Chile, Nathan did not surf for two months. Eventually, he lost many of his fellow mates to surfing. It was during this time, Nathan and wife Mindy Tuckergave birth to their first child.

Nathan’s surfing experiences made him calculated after he became a father. He did not stop himself from surfing, he became more careful about it.
