Soon, Arizonians would be able to enjoy surfing without leaving the state. Revel Surf Parks is set to become a retail and entertainment hub in Phoenix. The centerpiece of this ambitious endeavor is a state-of-the-art surfing lagoon. In the video posted on Instagram, users can see artificial waves being created to help people enjoy surfing. It is being developed by Shane Beschen and Swell Manufacturing, a pioneering artificial wave start-up based in Arizona. However, this project is their first attempt into the world of wave pools. The mechanism itself is unique because it consists of separate chambers with hydraulic presses above them. This allows for a high degree of adjustability in wave selection. Swell Manufacturing prides itself on the ability to keep surfers guessing, offering a dynamic surfing playlist that evolves with each session. Revel Surf Parks announced their intention to open their doors by Spring 2024, aiming to deliver a world-class experience.
Stab Highway’s Zoe McDougall, who had the opportunity to test the wave during the early stages, described her experience as breathtaking. She added, “It’s really fun, when I surfed it was still the tester wave. I showed up and the whole place was a construction site and the pool was empty and then the next day we were getting barreled.” Surf parks are now becoming quite common as people do not want to wait for the perfect swells in the ocean. A number of surf parks around the world are now attracting a host of customers.
