Megan Rapinoe leads the team from the front. The Captain of the US National Team and the OL Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League is a dominant name. Having led the team to multiple victories. It’s just not the soccer field that the winger rules. Standing out for her strong opinion and voice, Megan has a ‘boisterous’ side that is hard to ignore.

Rapinoe never shied away from speaking herself. Challenging the stereotyped gender roles, she identified herself as a “gay.” There were opinions of varying degrees but none too strong to hold her back! That’s because she has confidence in herself.

Was Megan always self-confident?

To speak requires a lot of courage. When asked whether or not, she was always so confident? Megan said, “I started that way.” However, things started getting “awkward.” In high school, gender roles, as Megan says, were a “thing.”

Speaking of the time, she revealed, “I didn’t know that I was gay.” For Megan, things started feeling “weird.” She knew one thing for sure that things were not going to turn out as expected. There were no rules. But Megan knew if she did not follow any rules, thenbets are off.”

She gets her confidence from not feeling pressured to fulfill the social norms. Furthermore, she said that it was her natural disposition to have confidence. But then again, figuring out the fact that she was gay. She says, “It’s embarrassing.” But the feeling soon faded away she grew up more mature!

In 2017, Megan spoke openly about her relationship with the pro-basketball player, Sue Bird. The announcement was even more shocking for the fans because Sue had never talked about her identity before. It was Megan who helped Sue in her journey of self-discovery.

Sue thanked her partner for helping her in making the decision. Speaking on the same, Sue said, “What Megan helped me understand was that, yes, what I was already doing was great, living authentically.”
