Ace snowboarder Shaun White, left his beloved arena and retired from the sport in 2022. After his last run in the Beijing Winter Olympics, White decided to hang his snowboarding gears. Nonetheless, he has his girlfriend to thank for the support she has given him during this transition. The snowboarding champion has seen enough ups and downs during his long career in the sport, and now he is ready to embrace a new chapter in his life. With Nina Dobrev by his side, the sensational athlete has chronicled his journey in a new docuseries called “Shaun White: The Last Run”.

The docuseries not only showcases White’s incredible snowboarding career but also delves into his personal life. White has been promoting the docuseries with appearances on talk shows and interviews. Recently, he appeared on the Access Hollywood talk show and talked about Nina’s role in the docuseries and her influence on his life. Here’s what he had to say!

Nina Dobrev’s support in Shaun White’s new journey

Shaun White enjoyed a lot of fame during his snowboarding career. With three Olympic gold medals to his name, Shaun is an inspiration for all aspiring snowboarders. Shaun decided to retire after the 2022 Winter Olympics. Following this, the Vampire Diaries actress encouraged him to make a bucket list of the things he had always wanted to do, but never had the time for. Shaun took her advice to heart and began exploring different avenues. A year later, we can see the fruits of that exploration in a docuseries which marks Shaun’s entry into showbiz.

In the Access Hollywood interview, when asked about Nina’s role in his retirement, Shaun stated, “She’s incredible”. He was reminded of the time before his last Olympic games when he was not allowed to bring anyone with him due to covid protocol. He further added, “And so, before the Olympics, I was like afterward I just need some time to just you know fall into this new role and she’s just been so supportive of that.”

More so, Dobrev made a farewell video for him, including Shaun’s friends and family. Shaun traveled to Beijing with his physical therapist and friend, Esther Lee. He also said that the video gave him the confidence to give his best in his last Olympic run. Now the snowboarder hopes to travel around the world with his girlfriend and enjoy his retirement.

Shaun White explores the world post retirement

Shaun called Nina an “amazing travel companion” and revealed that for the first time in his life, he is enjoying himself while traveling. In the past, he has always been haunted by a feeling of “unease” because of the constant pressure to succeed. Now, Shaun is focussing his attention on his brand “Whitespace” and promoting his docuseries, “The Last Run”. Shaun feels lucky to have Nina by his side during this exciting time in his career.

Nina has more knowledge and experience in the entertainment industry. She helped Shaun get a fourth episode for the docuseries and even finalized the look of the show. Shaun could not even imagine how his life would be without Nina’s support during his retirement, as he conceded, “I don’t know how it would be not having her in my corner during this time. I feel pretty lucky.”
