Literally snowballing out of control
The Instagram page Slabsking uploaded the video Shaun White shared. Uploaded on January 5, 2023, the video seemed to have been shot at a skiing resort, with many people either taking the cable car or the powered zipline to the top of a snow-covered slope. A person on one of the cable cars was shooting a video when the accident happened, and they recorded it. The video shows an individual who had nearly reached the top, losing his grip on the t-bar attached to the powered zipline. The snowboarder immediately begins sliding down the slope. Unable to regain composure, the snowboarder wipes out, picking up speed as he slides toward the oncoming skiers and snowboarders.

During the uncontrolled descent, the snowboarder collides with multiple people. He wipes out a skier after a direct collision and speeds toward a pair near the base of the slope. With each collision, more people are caught up, and everyone begins sliding downward, causing a domino effect. White posted the video with a “shocked” emoji as a caption of his Instagram story.
Many people in the comments section of the original video joked about the crash. However, White knew the incident could’ve been much worse. Even the best snowboarders in the world are not immune to accidents.
