2x Olympic Alpine Skiing gold medalist, Mikaela Shiffrin, is off to a great start in 2023. The 27-year-old skier has once again cemented her name in the history of the sport by winning her 83rd World Cup. Doing so, she broke fellow skier Lindsey Vonn‘s women’s all-time record. Additionally, this win leaves her just three wins shy from breaking Ingemar Stenmark’s overall record, as well.

The skiing world went ballistic, watching Shiffrin achieve this incredible feat in her career. Soon after the news went viral, fans from all over the world came forward to congratulate and praise the skier for her achievement.

Not long after the napping Queen created history at the 2023 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup, the official Facebook handle of the event shared the news with the world. Sharing a picture of the skier with her name, and the number 83, they added a simple caption that said it all – “IT’S HISTORY! #fisalpine Mikaela Shiffrin”. Agreeing with the statement an elated fan wrote, “We are witnessing GREATNESS!! Great job Mikaela!!”

Soon the comments section was filled with sports enthusiasts praising and congratulating the champion. One wrote, “Absolutely fabulous skiing! Congratulations”. Focusing on the skills rather than the score, a critical fan wrote, “More impressed by her quality of skiing than the numbers … luv to see her ski another decade 👍🤙”

However, while complimenting the winner, some users did not forget to take a jab at other record holders. One such user wrote, “Great atuff Micky….Great skiing without feeling the need to seek attention like others……”

Celebrating the victory, some fans subtly reminded the player of her next target. One user wrote, “Truly amazing, such a Queen and our Stenmark and his record is soon passed 👑🏆🥇🙌🏻✊🏻💪🏻🌟.” Analyzing the time and opportunity she still has to achieve the next feat, another fan wrote, “She has enough races left this season (7 technical plus speed) that she could equal or break Stenmark’s record this year. Amazing!!!!”
