Retired alpine ski racer, Lindsey Vonn has been grappling with knee issues for quite some time. So, a couple of days ago, she took to her official Instagram account and informed her 2.3 million followers, “After a lot of thought, research, and talking to many, many doctors, I made the decision to get a knee replacement.

Soon after being uploaded, the post started making waves across the internet, with spectators eyeing Lindsey’s upcoming replacement surgery. However, Lindsey once again found herself in the spotlight with only a few hours left before the operation.

Lindsey Vonn’s “pre-op comedy”

In a recent Instagram post, Lindsey Vonn shared a glimpse of her pre-operation antics. Alongside the video, she penned, “Just a little pre-op comedy to get you through your Friday! I was obviously on some medications (plural), but it gives you a perspective on how I approach my operations. I always try to be positive, and humor eases my nerves. The rap music definitely got me in the zone, though.

With an illustrious record of 82 World Cup victories, Lindsey Vonn is among the most successful Alpine skiers of all time. In addition to this, she is the second female with the largest number of World Cup podium finishes, with 137 appearances. Unfortunately, it is this career that caused her several injuries, including the recent knee replacement surgery.

After having issues with her right knee, the 39-year-old Lindsey Vonn opted to undergo knee replacement surgery. In this surgery, the damaged parts of her knee are replaced with a titanium implant. Throughout her career, Vonn has endured a litany of injuries that would have sidelined a lesser athlete.

Overcoming adversities feat Vonn

Back in 2006, Vonn for the first time witnessed a devastating injury wherein she tore her ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) during a Colorado crash. This was just the beginning as in the following year she tore her ligament not only once but thrice due to training crashes and races.

After this, she sprained her MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) in a training crash at Copper Mountain and LCL (Lateral Collateral Ligament) during a training run at Colorado. Yet, despite the challenges, her spirit remains unbroken as evident from her pre-op comedy. Now, as she embarks on the road to recovery once more, fans are awaiting her recovery post.
