Amid the bustling streets of downtown Denver, a condo on the 34th floor of the Spire building tells the story of Mikaela Shiffrin’s remarkable journey. The condo, once a sanctuary of shared dreams, now holds memories of her late father’s presence. While it might resemble others, this space bears witness to victories that shaped her career. The house is decorated with ski gear from her historic wins. This stands as a testament to her monumental achievements, including her record-breaking 88 Alpine World Cup victories.
Beyond the trophies, the condo is a haven where the Shiffrin family has beautiful moments of togetherness. It is a city sanctuary before jetting off to World Cup races. After his father’s demise, Shiffrin found her father’s encouraging voice lingering. According to the 9News, Shiffrin in a video said, “It’s a place that’s close to my heart and I have so many memories of my dad and so much time we spent there with him.” Her nana’s (grandmother) loss and her father’s loss back in 2020 and postpone of her schedule were the toughest time in Shiffrin’s life.
Skiing queen’s toughest days
Shiffrin has been fortunate with injuries, having only dealt with a torn medial collateral ligament in her knee back in 2015. It caused her to miss 2 months of racing. She didn’t go through a surgery but took a rest and rehab. In the video, she showed the location near her kitchen and stated, “That’s where I did rehab for my knee, I think back in 2015, that was where I started my rehab journey.”

The year 2020 became the year of navigating unimaginable loss. Her grandmother, her beloved “Nana,” at 98 & her father, “Jeff” at 65, left voids that even her remarkable skiing couldn’t fill. Stranded in a snowstorm after a canceled event, Mikaela’s drive home reflected the tempest within.

Her Colorado apartment indeed has many memories etched in its walls. From his father’s support to her victories framed on her wall of fame, the house is filled with nostalgia. However, the alpine skiing queen is all set to pass her keys, as she takes away memories and love of her family with her.
