The legendary Mikaela Shiffrin made headlines on day one of the Alpine Skiing event, holding 6th place. Post this, the queen surprised fans with a new social media post on 29th October 2023, that talked about gratitude and wished “best of luck” to her boyfriend, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, hours before the second day began. Through the course of posts, Shiffrin’s words went viral, making headlines across the world.

However, in the recent turn of sudden events, one new update chimed in which has left fans in shock. The day for the men’s skiing race didn’t go as planned. There are various challenges athletes face, and at the top of it, Aleksander Kilde’s faced the biggest tragedy till now. 

A disappointing race for Mikaela Shiffrin’s love

Aleksander Kilde is a Norwegian World Cup alpine ski racer. The 2021/22 season saw Kilde achieving a personal record. The athlete secured an impressive total of 7 victories and 2 second places, marking his highest number of podiums in a single season. However, the 2023 opening season has some other plans for the champion. According to FIS real-time scores, 30-year-old Kilde couldn’t complete the run and is currently standing on rank 10. The most possible reason as per the live event is the change in weather, which is a big obstacle for the athletes.

The fog is hitting hard and has made it difficult to give their best shot. It is visible in the Kilde’s performance. Currently under the list of DNF (did not finish) roster, the Skiing enthusiasts’ adrenaline rush is shattered at the moment. Though the second run is yet to come, the world awaits for the athlete to make a big comeback and is hopeful that will elevate her girlfriend, Shiffrin’s wishes. A closer look at Aleksander Kilde’s journey

It all started when Kilde became the junior world champion in the giant slalom in 2013. He also clinched the European Cup overall title that season. From making his World Cup debut in 2012, he’s been a consistent presence since the 2014 season, Kilde covered it all.

In addition, his Olympic debut in Sochi 2014 saw him finish 13th in super-G, showing promise despite challenges in downhill and combination events. However, the breakthrough moment arrived in December 2015 at Val Gardena, where Kilde secured his first World Cup podium in super-G.

And, the 2019–20 season marked a high point. Finally, Kilde won the World Cup overall title. Despite a setback with a season-ending injury in January 2020, the athlete showcased resilience with wins in Val Gardena. The 2021/22 season became a standout chapter, with Kilde achieving a personal best of seven wins and two second places. Mikaela Shiffrin’s “hero with benefits” notched his 2nd Super-G globe and secured his 1st Downhill globe. At the 2022 Winter Olympics, Kilde added bronze in Super-G and a surprise silver in Alpine combined. With this, here the 2023 season is underway.
