Is Mikaela Shiffrin prioritizing personal happiness over her skiing legacy with her recent choices?

After a long summer, it’s time to embrace the winter season. And with winter knocking at the door, how far can the FIS Ski World Cup be? According to the schedule, the skiing season will kick off on October 26 in Sölden, home to two glaciers in the Alpine region. However, the most prolific ski racer in history has yet to arrive in the Austrian town. Yes, Mikaela Shiffrin will be skipping the opening event of the FIS Ski World Cup. But that shouldn’t dampen the excitement—there’s more to look forward to!

Reportedly, Shiffrin will not attend the downhill this time. But she will attend the next stop (November 30) to compete. But the question may arise then where she is right now. The skiing community is buzzing with excitement as Mikaela Shiffrin nears her 100th World Cup victory. However, the American legend doesn’t seem too preoccupied with reaching the milestone. In her latest Instagram post, Shiffrin is seen watching her fiancé bake banana bread. Fans may find it refreshing to witness the duo mixing flour and eggs, but Aleksander’s mastery of the banana bread ingredients shows he’s a man of many talents. In the short Instagram clip, the 32-year-old effortlessly bakes the bread and hands a piece to Mikaela for a wholesome review.

Ultimately, Shiffrin recorded the entire incident, and she knew the effort the Norwegian ski racer had put behind. In the end, after taking a bite from the piece, the two-time Olympic champion said only one word, “delicious.” That made the day for Aleksander as he displayed his gratitude to his lady love in a thankful tone. But this is not the end. The entire baking show touched Mikaela to the extent that she added a question in the post’s caption: “Think we should start a new baking series?” However, the maximum votes supported the couple’s new endeavor in the kitchen. But taking up this baking series seriously may need time, as both of them are on their way to joining their profession. And this time, Mikaela Shiffrin will appear with some fresh maxims.

The victory against all odds brings joy

In January this year, Mikaela Shiffrin injured her knee in a high-speed crash in Cortina d’Ampezzo. She was on her way to add another victory while competing in the World Cup downhill. But the accident kept her away from the glissades and as a result, she missed the chance to earn her 100th win in the World Cup. Shiffrin didn’t think about the record at that gloomy moment. But something more made her ponder about her future.

Last year, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde experienced a fatal accident in Lauberhorn. The aftermath was painstaking, as the ski racer had to go through multiple injuries, bacterial infections, and whatnot. Coincidentally, in January, both of them went through medical treatment because of their injuries. This double blow made them think about bidding goodbye to the sport and living a painless life. “We’ve had that conversation,” Mikaela agreed to having such thoughts. But after that phase, here they are, standing on their feet again, enjoying time together. Moreover, the brutal experience of January has kept Shiffrin away from the downhill this season, but she wants to compete to prove that she is not “finished” yet. Their fans have wanted to see them with this color and here the couple is!
