The new way of celebration has been admired by Shiffrin fans. The journey to clinch the 55th slalom win wasn’t a cakewalk, the champ has undergone a lot. The athlete amassed 90 victories in 254 World Cup starts since her debut on the circuit just two days before her 16th birthday in 2011.
Her inaugural triumph occurred in a slalom race in Sweden in December 2012. Notably, she made history last March by surpassing the legendary Ingemar Stenmark’s mark of 86 World Cup wins, establishing herself as the record-holder across genders. But this isn’t all. In Sunday’s race, Mikaela Shiffrin faced a formidable challenge from Petra Vlhova. She was sitting pretty with a comfortable lead before Shiffrin’s 2nd run. Despite losing half of her initial 0.28-second advantage at the first split, Shiffrin gradually got back her lead over Vlhova. Notably, Vlhova had won the 1st slalom of the season two weeks earlier. Here’s the twist. She stumbled in the second race and handed victory to Shiffrin.

Shiffrin doesn’t say, but proves it through her actions. Her dominance in slalom continued. It marked her sixth win in seven attempts at the annual World Cup weekend on the East Coast.
