Yesterday, Vonn took to her Instagram to share a stunning video of her wake surfing like a pro. Besides complimenting her will to dominate every sport, a section of social media took to her comments to criticize her for littering in the ocean.

Lindsey Vonn takes it easy with her surfboard in the sea

Vonn shared a video of her taking on the waves on a surfboard in her latest Instagram video. The retired skier shared that it was her first surfing spree at the onset of the summer season. She penned in her caption, “An amazing weekend at home 🇺🇸… first wake surf of the summer… getting better!!”

The Olympic skier was seen donning a grey full-sleeve swimsuit, layered with a life-saving jacket. She accessorized her look with a white cap. She performed the wake surfing gig to promote the brand, Red Bull.

While at it, Vonn looked effortless shifting through the waves. At one point, a crew member in a nearby boat passed her a Red Bull can. The skier carefully opened it, drank a few sips, and threw it back diagonally in the same direction she took it from.

Viewers quickly assumed that the skier threw the can into the sea, littering the water and setting a bad example for her fans. As a result, they called out Vonn for her seemingly careless act.

Netizens criticize Lindsey Vonn, overlooking the real turn of events

Although Vonn’s surfing prowess shocked the internet, netizens could not rule out the fact that she seemed to throw a can into the sea, leading to the unwarranted backlash. One comment read, “Nice, but how can you throw the can into the water??? You should be extra careful, what example you give to thousands of people. Very disappointing!” Another similar sentiment against the skier read, “Nice but why litter by throwing your can into the water? Irresponsible for a celeb to model that shitty habit.” Another Instagrammer left a sarcastic comment saying, “Thanks for littering”

However, in reality, Vonn threw the can back to a friend on the nearby boat. The skier also clarified the misconception later in the comment section stating, ” I threw the can back to the boat to be sure it was thrown away properly.” Turns out, the internet was very quick to judge.

However, some fans overlooked Vonn’s throw and hyped her for her effortless surfing skills, “You make it look so easy! Looking Amazing girl 🥰💕”. Since Vonn frequently made news for her injuries during her ski career, a fan was happy to see her in good health saying, “Knees looking healthy and strong 💪🏾”

While Vonn seemed powerful stepping into a surfer’s shoe, the internet miscalculated her can-throwing gesture. Vonn for her part, took the time to clarify her follower’s doubts with a befitting reply to a fan comment, saying, “…appreciate you wanting to protect the environment. Good thing we are on the same page but maybe hold your judgment until you actually know the story”.
