Retired skier Lindsey Vonn is one of the greatest athletes in the world. She was a World Cup alpine ski racer on the US Ski team. Lindsey won four World Cups in the overall championships bagging three consecutive wins in 2008, 2009, and 2010, and then another one after a year’s gap. Vonn also became the first American Woman to win the gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Moreover, in 2016, the skier also bagged her 20th World Cup crystal globe title.

Lindsey Vonn started skiing aged two. Her grandfather taught her and got her into the sport. Vonn was just 16 when she became a part of the US Ski Team. Throughout her career, the skier has earned many titles to her name. In 2010, she received the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year award and was the United States Olympic Committee’s sportswoman of the year.
Did Lindsey Vonn have a bad snowboarding experience?
Vonn made her first Olympic debut in the 2002 Winter Olympics when she was 17. She appeared in two categories: slalom and combined. Then in 2003, Vonn won a silver medal downhill in the Junior World Championship. She saw tremendous success when she became the first American woman to win a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She made headlines for her convincing performance. Among 45 competitors, Von finished the race within a time span of 1:44.19. The event turned her into the greatest skier of all time.

On winning her title, Vonn immediately rose to fame. Fans were interested in knowing more about Lindsey and her experiences. In one of her interviews with Time, she answered several questions.
One of the journalists asked Vonn whether she ever tried snowboarding. Lindsey said, “I have, and I was bad at it. I don’t like the feeling of having my feet stuck together.”
Furthermore, she talked about her impression of snowboarding legend, Shaun White: “My husband and I were watching [snowboarder] Shaun White, and we were saying that he’s like Yoda in Star Wars, who’s always hobbling around and then in the fight scene goes crazy. That’s what Shaun does. He’s really agile. It’s not easy, what he does. I couldn’t do it.”
Both Shaun and Lindsey won gold medals in the 2010 Olympic Games. The skiing and snowboarding legends are good friends.

When did Vonn retire?
Vonn, who started her skiing career at 16, announced her retirement, aged 34 in 2019. She had to retire due to several injuries. It was not a contended retirement for her, as she desired to achieve many other goals.

However, post-retirement, Lindsey has become busier than ever. She plays many roles today as a businesswoman, a model, a writer, a sports expert, and a media person.
