On 16 December 2022, Skiing World Champion, Mikaela Shiffrin, uploaded the first episode of Moving Right Along. It featured her journey of the 2022-23 World Cup season. At one point in the video, Shiffrin spoke about the realization she came to during the Olympics. The 27-year-old said, “…one thing I’ve realized throughout the period at the Olympics was failing doesn’t mean you’re a failure.”
She further added, “It’s just the concept that you can fail so many times and you could still get up and you could still race and you can still succeed. What makes it hard is not reaching your own expectations and the disappointment that comes along with that after so much work that you put into something.”
During her journey, Shiffrin realized how contingent failure is. She further added that there is so much to look forward to if one decides not to give up and keep the ball rolling. Keeping that in mind, Shiffrin rolled in the recent World Cup.

Placing the ski on the wrong side led to Shiffrin losing her balance during the race. This in turn led to immediate disqualification from the event. However, even when she was disappointed after not being able to finish her race, Shiffrin did not let the incident get to her. Instead, she came back with much vigor in the slalom.
