On the occasion of World Women’s Day, Lindsey Vonn took to her Instagram and posted a carousel of pictures of her along with her mom and grandmom. Alongside the pictures, she penned, “Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate women…Often times we don’t realize the impact people have until you take a moment to really look back at what has truly shaped you.“
She continued, “I’m lucky, I had an incredibly strong Mother and Grandmother whose example I followed….they had grit! Strong, smart, at many points undervalued, but unrelenting in their ability to be positive and bring joy to others.” Alongside, Vonn also spoke of her inspiration from the sporting world.
Lindsey extended the post to honor her role model and one of the best tennis stars in the USA, Billie Jean King. In the same Instagram post, she penned, “@billiejeanking was a role model to me long before I ever met her. My Dad would tell me stories of the battle of the sexes and how women were strong enough to beat men. And I also have to say thank you to my Dad for teaching me that. Now, as a friend, Billie Jean continues to have an impact on me and the world.”
