While the sport happened by chance to Tony, skateboarding is in Riley’s genes. Riley won a Best Am (Amateur) title in 2013 by Skateboarder Magazine. Despite such impeccable talent, the media can’t stop comparing or referring to his father, the legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk. Does it leave Riley in unease?
Riley is fed up with questions about Tony Hawk
Tony proved himself as an all-around skater. However, he spent most of his time doing vert skating. Riley chose to build a career in street skating. Comparisons and criticism always make their way to Riley despite his best effort.
Questions like “Where’s your dad? Where’s Tony?!” every time someone came across Riley only left him feeling bizarre. He would think to himself why would he, Tony’s 24-year-old son, constantly hang out with his dad?
“In my head, I’m always thinking, ‘Where’s your dad?’ I mean, are you 24 and just constantly hanging out with your dad? It’s bizarre,” Riley thought. However, he agreed that carrying a superstar surname has both advantages and disadvantages attached to it.
