Tony Hawk recounts Brown’s ”heaviest slam of skateboarding history”

In 2020, the famous skateboarder Tony Hawk, alias “Birdman” was invited to the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. There, he had a long chat with the very famous Joe Rogan. The topics flowed from vert skating to how Hawk would never quit the sport.
Eventually, around 18 minutes into the conversation, it turned to accidents and disasters on the skating ramp. And it was here Hawk took up the topic of Brown. Known as an all-or-nothing skater, Brown had a nasty fall in 2007. While skating, he reportedly fell off a 45ft ramp and walked away from the course. But complications did arise for him later. This incident was captured live to be later known as the heaviest slam in X Games history.

Commenting on the gravity of everything, Hawk said, “think he broke his hand maybe his …his heel and had like internal bruising but that’s it was I mean it was really unbelievably lucky yeah”, Jake’s physical condition was so fragile that even his survival became a question. It was recounted by the Birdman as well. “I watched that, and I was like this guy. There’s no way this guy’s gonna live “ According to Tony, this accident was due to some management factors, and ramp heights underwent serious scrutiny following that.

Currently, 48, Brown is perhaps one of the most recognized skaters in the world and is in a tie with Tony. He is one of the most talented vert skaters and once performed a part of his routine blindfolded. Currently, Brown is training the next generation to ride well. And yes, he still hits the ramps himself as well.

Jake had his best X games runs in 2009 and 2010, where he was placed in the first position. His overall medal count sits at two golds, two silvers, and two bronzes. When not active, he can be found flexing his skills on his Instagram.
