“Most People Don’t Know a F*cking Thing About Your Sport” Tony Hawk Left Confused Whether He Is Getting Applauded or Grilled

Tony Hawk is the first name that will pop up whenever someone talks about skateboarding. The legendary skateboarder always appreciates healthy criticism. However, in a recent interview, the welcoming nature of the skateboarding legend got him grilled. The Birdman appeared for an interview on The YMH Studios along with Jason Ellis. 

Although Hawk needs no introduction, this time it was the introduction of the legend by Tom Segura that began with Hawk’s leg pulling. 

An unusual introduction of Tony Hawk confused him

Tom Segura, the host of the show, began introducing cracks a witty joke by internationally referring to Hawk as a popular roller skater (instead of a skateboarder). “If you love roller skating you know these guys,” he said. Everyone sitting there immediately burst into laughter as the statement was a satire since people often misinterpret both sports as one. Even the Birdman couldn’t hold his laughter. 

Segura further highlighted the fact that Tony Hawk’s popularity is more than the skateboarding sport itself. However, the star podcaster twisted his words and it sounded more like a grilling rather than a compliment. Sergio wanted to say that Tony Hawk is more popular than the sport he played. But his words were, “You have to admit like most people don’t know a f*cking thing about it”. At this point, Hawk would have been wondering if he was at the right place or not.

But Segura added after that would have make-up for the entire grilling. “And yet everybody knows who you are”, Segura told Tony in the interview.  “You’re the main Ambassador,” he further added.

Hawk, known for his calm nature appreciated the compliment and gave all the credit to the game that he made. However, even just before the release of that game, Hawk had to make the most crucial decision of his life. That decision would’ve changed everything for him. 

The toughest decision of Hawk’s career

Tony Hawk is among the few names who have a game to their name. But just a few nights away from the release of his revolutionary game, Hawk got an opportunity of a lifetime. In an interview with Flagrant, Hawk once revealed how he was offered an enormous amount in exchange for the royalties. 

The amount was very alluring at that point in time. However, The Birdman held his nerves and didn’t give up the royalties. He was eyeing that the game can give him better results and the upcoming years proved that he was right.
