It has been 9 years since Jason Ellis retired from professional skateboarding. But his friendship that started with skating legend Tony Hawk around then continues to date. Australian skateboarder, Ellis moved to the USA at age 17 to pursue a skating career. After achieving several feats, he has to bid adieu to the sports, but he put on his skating shoes very recently for another weekend of fun activity. After the success of it, Ellis thanked his friend and co-podcaster Tony Hawk for being the pillar of motivation and support for him. This made skating fans in awe of their friendship.

Jason Ellis recently took to his Instagram and shared a long post about skating in the past weekend, and how fun it was for him. He also hailed Hawk by comparing him to a fictional boxing great. This only made their fans celebrate their friendship.

Jason Ellis wrote in his Instagram post, “Skateboarding has given me so much to be grateful for. That’s why it’s easy for me to give back the only way I know how. Screaming My face off @tonyhawk”. The fact that Ellis traveled more than 9000 miles from his home country to the USA before he was an adult, in order to be a skateboarder, just goes to show how much he is in love with the sport.

Ellis gave a shout-out to Tony Hawk, as he attached an image of him falling backwards on a skateboarding rink. Hawk and another person were watching him from the top, while a teenager was filming Ellis’s trick in motion. Ellis also mentioned that such passion, dedication, and interest in skateboarding from the audience also prove the mettle and worth of the sport today.

Skateboarding has also been included in the Olympics in Tokyo 2020, and its popularity only grows. Nothing makes Hawk and Ellis, two pro skateboarders happier than that.

As Ellis also called Hawk “Rocky Balboa”, the champion boxer from Rocky (1976), fans couldn’t help but notice how close they are to each other and how special it is. Here’s how some of them reacted:

“The hug and true show of friendship made that moment even better!!” wrote a fan. In the 2nd picture Ellis posted, he was giving a hug to Hawk in jubilation. That conveys deeper meaning about their friendship than any word ever could.

“It was amazing to watch”, wrote a fan who loved every moment of it.

“Loved hearing the emotion in your voice after Tony landed it. Made me tear up. Love it, dude”, wrote another fan who welled up in joy at the sight of it.

“Some real love right there”, rightfully said a fan by the look of sheer joy and jubilation on Hawk and Ellis’s faces.

“Dude, I was stoked to see y’all skate”, wrote another fan who was waiting for a moment like this.

In the image, Ellis gives Hawk a tight hug, and then in the last one, he takes the mic and addresses the crowd who went to support him there. Their friendship has continued even outside the skating rink as the two hosts a podcast called ‘Hawk vs Wolf’. He even gives Hawk a hard time on occasion, like once when he confronted him with an anti-graffiti PSA Hawk did in his youth. Hawk later made amends to graffiti artists and all was well. They continue to host the podcast to date.
