As the world remained divided over the most anticipated boxing matchup of the year, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk also seemed unable to ignore the excitement. The match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul has created quite a tension in the world, the craze of which has transcended beyond the domain of boxing. The Summer X Games icon, however, seemed to be pretty clear in his head about who he’d like to see triumph at the end of the bout.
In his recent Instagram story, the 56-year-old shared an old image of himself from 2009 shaking hands with Iron Mike Tyson. With that, the retired skateboarding phenom also shared a message that could well be an ominous prediction about what awaited Paul at the AT&T Stadium tonight. “Left. Right. Uppercut. Body Blow. Body Blow. Knock. ‘I’m Out!’” read the caption of the post, and Hawk put forward that the older fans should know well what’s coming for the YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul.
During his professional career, Tyson amassed a 50-6 all-time record. 44 of those wins came as knockouts, and justifiably, many felt that even at 58 years old, the iconic star would trample over his much younger opponent without breaking much of a sweat. While that didn’t exactly pan out at the end of the day, it was heartwarming to see that Paul made his tributes to Tyson in the final seconds of their bout. But that didn’t stop the celebrities from putting their eggs in Mike’s basket.

Walking a similar line, Tony Hawk also seemed to think that his old buddy would sweep the match while showing Jake Paul his place. Going by the caption in his update, it looks like Tony strongly believed Tyson still had in himself the same kind of aggression and stamina that earned him the title of “the baddest man“.

Two-time Olympic medalist and Noah Lyles’ national teammate Kenny Bednarek also put his faith in Tyson’s favor just moments before the big rumble in Arlington, Texas. With the hype surrounding the match, it was only normal to see that a long line of A-listers, including YouTuber MrBeast, LSU gymnast and reigning NCAA champ Olivia Dunne, Shaquille O’Neal, Joe Jonas, and others, flocked to the AT&T Stadium to witness the battle of the ages. Considering how a massive buzz was created surrounding the fight, it was only natural that these stars couldn’t keep themselves away.

When Jake Paul first expressed his intentions to meet the retired boxing legend in the ring, people were skeptical as to how the proposal would pan out in reality. But over time, Paul proved that he wasn’t kidding around with his words, and it wasn’t long before Tyson also agreed to come out of his retirement for one more time to make use of the opportunity to ride into the sunset with style. The fight was scheduled to happen earlier this year, but Tyson’s ulcer issues prompted it to be postponed. Nonetheless, the world kept a keen eye on the developments and was finally ready for the epic showdown.
At yesterday’s weigh-in ceremony, Tyson managed to sneak in a sly slap to his opponent, underscoring how he was also feeling the emotions seep through his seasoned veins. The craze around the fight was real, and the 7x Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles and her husband Jonathan Owens also got into the mood for the night as they prepped to watch the match on Netflix from their home. Evidently, Tony Hawk was also stricken with the excitement and had to weigh in on the debate as well. Did you watch the fight too? Tell us if you shared Hawk’s sentiments in a comment!
