Whenever there are talks about skateboarding, Chad Muska and Jamie Thomas cannot be left out of the conversation. Was it because of their friendship? Well, it was the opposite, as the duo was famous for their on and off-ramp rivalry.

The two who started as friends soon turned into great sporting rivals and were competing to be “the best”. During a recent and unique interview, Muska revealed how the famous skateboarding rivalry began.

Chad Muska reveals “the truth”

In one of his latest interviews with Vice Media, Muska talked about his early life and how he went from being a homeless kid to a world-class skateboarder. This docu-video also featured some other skaters who were his competitors. One of them was his greatest rival and competitor, Jamie Thomas.

While discussing this, the pro skater revealed that he was indeed jealous of Thomas’s success and wanted the same for him. It was just about being more famous. He said, “I was like ‘I’m gonna take Jamie out because I know I can do it.’ Because I felt like he already kind of having his shine and I was like ‘It’s my time,’ you know.”

Although they were famous rivals, Muska confessed that he indeed respected and adored Thomas’ skills and way of performing. “And it wasn’t nothing personal against him because I was a 100% grateful for everything he did for me and was doing, but I wanted what he had too,” the pro skater admitted.

However, Muska and Thomas’s rivalries just gave a boost to each other in their careers. In the race to do better than the other, they made quite a name for themselves in the skateboarding world. 

What led to Muska’s success?

Since childhood, Muska was involved with the sport in some way or the other. Hoping from one communal living to another, he was seeking newer opportunities. However, when Toy Machine took the young skateboarder under their belt, it helped him pursue the sport professionally.

Soon, he got involved with the famous brand Shorty’s, which allowed him to showcase his creative side. Muska was also featured in the brand’s video – Fulfill the Dream, which helped Muska gain more popularity. Even after becoming a famous skateboarder and known personality in the States, Muska never stopped climbing the ladder of success.
