Tony Hawk has given some of skateboarding’s most incredible performances. Skateboarding, however, carries a far higher risk along with its excitement. Tony Hawk has closely watched the dark side of performing stunts in skateboarding. However, he still cannot prevent his children from engaging in the sport.

Back in 2021, Tony Hawk gave an interview with the New York Times and provided insights into various aspects of his career.

Tony Hawk has multiple injuries that the masses didn’t know

Skateboarding pros have witnessed some of the most terrible accidents in sports history. In the New York Times interview, Hawk was asked about his concerns for his children’s well-being. “Did you have any concerns from a physical standpoint about your kid following in your footsteps?”, the journalist asked.

Hawk replied that he was aware of the dangerous situations his child could come across, which also worried him. However, the Birdman could not say anything since he too had taken the same risks to achieve success. “But how could I possibly discourage them from doing the thing that brought me the most joy beside them?” Hawk replied.

The 50-year-old revealed the long list of injuries he had faced in his prosperous career. “I fractured my pelvis. I fractured my skull, fractured my thumb, and broke my elbow” he said. He further added that there has been a long list of sprains, scraps, and concussions over the years. Hawk also highlighted that his children understand the value of moderating things to avoid mishappenings. 

Tony Hawk’s children have distinct interests

Hawk has had three marriages and four children. His oldest son Riley is 29 years old and has followed in his dad’s footsteps to become a pro skater himself. Riley won the award for Best(Amateur) in 2013 from Skateboarder Magazine and participated in the pro games later that year. Hawk’s second son Spencer23, was born in 1999. Spencer didn’t choose the skating world quite like his big brother but had a passion for music.

His third son Keegan is 20, and has a great interest in photography and making videos, while his youngest child and only daughter Kadence, is 13 years old. She often does skating but considers it a father-daughter bonding activity than something serious.
