The “Birdman”, Tony Hawk, is a legendary skateboarder. Hawk took the sport to the heights where it is now considered a mainstream sport. Moreover, Hawk was just nine-year-old when he began skateboarding. At 11, he started competing in competitions and soon entered professional teams. Furthermore, he became one of the best vert skaters in the world.

Recently, Hawk joined legendary boxer Mike Tyson and Sebastian Joseph in a YouTube video of ‘Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson’. While conversing with them, Hawk revealed the several injuries he went through while skateboarding. What shocked Tony Hawk? 

Tony Hawk couldn’t believe what Tyson said

Playing physical sports tends to have more risks of getting injured. Skateboarding and boxing both have enough chances to get an athlete injured. Moreover, when it comes to concussions, anybody would say boxers have a higher chance of getting more concussions than a skateboarder. And boxing is a combat sport which naturally is more dangerous.

However, in the case of the legendary boxer Mike Tyson, he revealed he had no concussions while boxing. He said“Yeah, I don’t know if I had a concussion. Maybe when I fell and hit my head a couple of times from being drunk.” Indeed, this tells us about the legacy of Tyson. The way he fought through his career.

However, this confession from Tyson shocked Birdman. Hawk said, “It’s scary to think I have had more concussions than Mike Tyson. I have dozens in my life from skating.”

Hawk shares a long history of injuries

The list is pretty long. The first injury he remembers took two of his teeth, and that was just the beginning. Later, he injured his forehead, funny bone, thumb, fingers, knee, ankle, rib, hip, shin, and the latest femur injury he had in March 2022.

The important thing to notice here is Hawk’s dedication to the sport. Having more concussions than the boxing legend is the pure magic of Tyson’s skills and the efforts he put in. Moreover, Hawk’s curiosity and desire to take his skills to another level by trying various new moves made him more prone to injuries. Despite having several injuries while skating, he never stopped and kept doing what he loved.
