In the skateboarding world where skateboards make histories on concrete canvases & challenge the laws of physics, an inspiring figure has emerged to rewrite the narrative. Oorbee Roy, popularly known as “Aunty Skates”, has taken the skating scene by storm. She is breaking through stereotypes and redefining what’s possible.
Skateboarding has long been seen as a domain dominated by the young, the fearless. Yet, amidst this realm of flips & spins, one YouTube video showcasing a woman in her 40s has gracefully skated into the spotlight. As skateboarding icon Tony Hawk once said, “I believe that people should take pride in what they do, even if it is scorned or misunderstood by the public at large”. Aunty Skates personifies this sentiment, embracing skating not merely as a sport, but as a canvas for true self-authentication.
