“I think you were trying to roast me, but this actually is a fact. I do have a BMI of 30—well, 29.3, to be more exact,” said Ilona Maher to one of her trolls. She has been subjected to a lot of them since she entered the limelight. Even before that, people used to term her as masculine during her childhood. But she has never let this bog her down and has gone on to achieve great heights in her career. While this includes the Olympic bronze medal, it also includes her ongoing Dancing With the Stars campaign.

The rugby player has captured the hearts of fans as she transitions from a sports athlete to a dancer. Despite initial hiccups, she appears to be on the path to truly excelling in her new endeavor. This was evident during her latest performance, which generated significant buzz. Dressed in a striking blue gown that showcased her muscles, she had a larger purpose for her performance.

Talking to Access Hollywood reporters after the end of the episode, Ilona Maher was asked about her look during her performance. The rugby player remarked that she loved her look and wanted to sport the dress she was wearing. This was because her main motive at DWTS is to inspire muscular girls like her to embrace their beauty and feel feminine.

Thus, she wore a dress that would show all her bare muscular features to the world, as it was important to acknowledge them. Ilona Maher expressed pride for her beauty and felt every muscular girl should feel so, too. She said, “I was like I want to show more; I want to show all my shoulders, all the, whatever part of me, the cellulite it is when I dance, and I was like less fabric, less fabric because I’m very proud of what my body can do, and I’m very proud of how it looks and what it’s done for me and taken me in my career.”

Ilona’s muscles are one of the major reasons for her success in her rugby career. This is because, as the sport involves heavy contact, players are encouraged to strengthen their upper body so that they could win duels. The Olympic bronze medalist doesn’t shy away from acknowledging that, which is why she has gotten to where she is. The episode overall was great for her, as her dance routine dedicated to her team earned a lot of praise from the judges.

Ilona Maher’s Dedication Day performance at DWTS

The fourth week of Dancing with the Stars centered around the theme of tribute. The stars were tasked with dedicating their performances to someone special who has shaped their lives. Both Olympians, Stephen Nedoroscik and Ilona Maher, honored their respective teams in their dedications.

While Stephen paid his honors to gymnastics, Ilona put the spotlight on her rugby team compatriots, who won the bronze medal alongside her. For this, the whole US women’s team that won the bronze medal in Paris were present in the audience to witness the routine live.

Ilona performed a slow and graceful dance form to the tunes of a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s My Way performed by Yseult. She earned a lot of praise from the judges for this performance, and one of them termed it the “most delicate and refreshing dance” she has ever seen. This got her a score of 32/40, a huge improvement from last week’s outing, which only got her 26/40, leaving her emotional. But now it seems like she’s on the right track to improve more and more. If she does so, she might have a legitimate chance of taking home the trophy.
