While most people are still skeptical about participating in the sport of rock climbing, a 9-year-boy has left the whole community speechless. However, his motivation for this epic encounter came after the greatest loss of his life. The 9-year-old is scaling the tallest heights, all to raise funds in memory of his mother.
Junior rock climbing sensation dedicated the world to his mother
Mills lost his mother in 2018. His mom, Bekki suffered from breast cancer and eventually lost the battle five years back. However, she always supported his son’s hobby of climbing. In turn, Mills decided to give her a tribute, and he did it in style.
The climber scaled up the Old Man of Hoy, a 450 ft sea stack near the north coast of Scotland. With this, he became the youngest person in the world to complete the deadly climb. He dedicated the win to his mother and said, “I reckon if she could see me now, she would hug me so tight I probably wouldn’t be able to breathe”.
Mills further added that his mom loved his passion for the sport and always motivated him to keep pushing. When she became sick, Mills made a promise to his mother never to leave the sport. Bekki always loved going out in the fresh air and had an inclination for outdoor sports.
Mill’s parents are his pillars of strength
After his mother’s demise, Mills decided to raise money for breast cancer patients. The kid from Scotland has raised over £40, 000 for a charity called ‘Climbers Against Cancer’. Mills’s dad Nathan is also his first teacher and was very proud of his achievement. “The fact that he has raised over £40, 000 for a charity that is so close to our hearts and is a really beautiful thing, and I know his mum and I know his mum would be so proud of him”, said the father.

Mills is dedicated to continuing his heroics. Heights don’t scare him and he trusts his training even when things don’t go according to him. So far the 9-year-old is keeping his promise intact. With more young climbers taking up the sport, if Mills continues to deliver such performances, it won’t be long before he becomes one of the greatest to face the rock.
