According to a recent update on X, the official handle for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Kenya made an announcement. They declared the formalization of a partnership between Kenya and Miramas City. On Friday, CS Ababu arrived in Paris. He received a warm welcome from Miramas Mayor Frederic Vigouroux, Salon de Provence Mayor Nicolas Isnard, and the NOC-K Executive led by President Dr. Paul Tergat. Following the signing of the MoU, NOCK plans to facilitate the arrival of specific teams to Miramas next month for early acclimatization. This agreement reflects a similar arrangement before the Tokyo Olympics. This visit wasn’t that ordinary, as they had long plans for the Paris Olympics in 2024.

CS unveils Team Kenya’s power-packed training ground
During the CS’s stay, they explored the state-of-the-art Miramas Metropole Facilities. These facilities have been the training ground for Team Kenya since the previous year. They feature Indoor Track, Football and Rugby pitches, Tennis courts, Outdoor Warm-Up track, and Boxing and Taekwondo gyms. NOC-K expressed its ongoing commitment to use these facilities for pre-Olympics preparations. They plan to send the next team the following month and settle the entire Team Kenya contingent in camp by June for the anticipated July Olympic games. The CS’s presence highlighted the government’s dedication to fostering bilateral partnerships between Kenya and France. It also showcased support for the collaboration between NOC-K and its international partners.

In conjunction with the MOU signing, four Team Kenya sprinters participated in the 2024 Miramas Metropole-Silver Indoor Meeting. Commonwealth Champion Ferdinand Omanyala and Mark Otieno Odhiambo competed in the 60m race, aiming for the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow.
