Comprising three main areas (Olympic Village Plazza, a residential area around the Cité du Cinéma, and an operational area), the Village will continue to serve as part of the Greater Paris underground network. 85% of the athletes will train within 20 minutes of the competition venue, making the 500m radius complex an ideal place for the world’s athletes. The Village will also carry forward a noteworthy legacy that dates back to a century.
The Olympic Village concept comes to a full circle
While the Olympic Games are an iconic sporting event that lures the globe’s best athletes to excel in their respective domains, the Olympic Village is steeped in a legacy of its own. The very first village for the Games was built here, in northwest Paris in 1924. The first one awed the world with its planned construction and small huts, and the latest Village will see such projects come a full circle as the Olympics return to the French capital a century later.

The first village was motivated by the aim of bringing players from every continent under one roof and IOC’s latest accommodation plans for the athletes seek to rekindle the same sense of camaraderie among the competitors. Now, it remains to be seen how the Olympians make the most of the lavish accommodations and bring glory to their respective nations.
