With the sad demise of Robert Marvin Hull, aka The Golden Jet, the world today yet again lost another gem. Reputed as one of the best, the NHL star breathed his last at the age of 84. The Chicago Blackhawks and the NHL Alumni Association formally announced the news on Monday. Since then, the Hockey community has joined in grieving the departed soul. As prayers and thoughts poured in number, Janet Gretzky, wife of  Wayne Gretzky, too, joined others.

Sharing a heartfelt tribute to their beloved Bobby, Janet poured her heart out. Trying to process the grave loss, the former actress walked down memory lane as she eulogized her dear friend.

Sharing a short video of pictures that features the hockey great Hull, Janet extended her prayers to the Hull family. As Ben King’s Stand By Me played in the background, Janet wrote, “Our hearts are around the Hull family, He will stand by you as your Angel in Heaven.” She recalled a cherished moment when she had her first child, Pauline.

Reflecting on those memories, he revealed how Bobby came running to their home and scooped Paulina out of her crib. She added, how he would end up “snuggling her up to his neck”. Thus as the memories gushed back, she could not help but write, “Bobby, you will be missed by all. 💔🙏🏻💔”

Bobby created history when he became the first in the NHL to score more than 50 goals in a season. Helping his team win some of the most crucial matches, he was rightfully named the Golden Jet. In a career that spanned over 23 years, his high-velocity goals, skating speed, and end-to-end rushes were always the talk of the town.

Looking back at the legacy that Bobby Hull created

Part of the elite group of players who made a historical impact on the ice hockey community, the Golden Jet helped to popularize the sport into the mainstream and gave fans countless memories to reflect back on. His iconic blonde hair, infectious smile, and dressing style always drew the attention of the fans. During his career, he played for both the National Hockey League (NHL) and the World Hockey Association (WHA).

Hull played for Chicago Black Hawks, Winnipeg Jets, and Hartford Whalers. A recipient of the Hart Memorial Trophy, he was twice declared the NHL’s most valuable player. He secured the top position as the leading point scorer in NHL three times. Thus, as Janet rightly reflects, he was a “force on earth” who has now “arrived safely in Heaven.”
