“Pretty Crazy Out There”: Hockey Legend Wayne Gretzky Once Revealed His Most Memorable NHL Game Where Fans Were ‘Going Nuts’

Wayne Gretzky is a former Canadian ice hockey player. By many people, he is considered the greatest player to have played in NHL. He began skating at the age of two and a half years old and was provided with his first hockey lessons by his father. Gradually he started playing it professionally and by the age of 16, he made his debut in Junior World Cup.

Moreover, he was the highest scorer in the competition. In 1978-79, he started playing in WHA and soon made his debut in the NHL after his contract was sold to Edmonton Oilers. After playing ice hockey for more than 20 years, Gretzky revealed the best game he played, in an interview in 2020.

Wayne Gretzky had been a part of several incredible moments in his two-decades-long career. In May 2020, he shared about the best NHL game that he was a part of in his career. Gretzky said, “The best NHL game I played in my mind. I think game seven in Toronto.”

Furthermore, he explained the situation back then. He said, “It was really interesting because we had a security guard that was on our floor that was kind of taking care of our team at the hotel. And I remember I was leaving for the arena around quarter to three. I always left a little early to get there, have a coffee and just kind of sit in the stands and get ready for the game”

He continued, “And as I was going down the elevator, I’d made a comment to the gentleman and I said, you know it’s pretty crazy out there right now because the leaf nation was going n*ts and it was excited one game away from the Stanley Cup final.” As the guard believed the Leafs were going to win, he had to handle the crowd later at night. Gretzky relieved him that he won’t let that happen. And he didn’t let that happen and won the match for the Kings. 

The splendid career of Gretzky

Wayne Gretzky revealed his great skills and speed from the first game he played. He was the youngest player in the Junio World Cup in 1977. Moreover, he was also the top scorer in that tournament. Later, he didn’t waste any time stepping up to a higher level and continuing his class performance. 

Later, he played in NHL and never missed impressing. He played 20 NHL seasons from 1979 to 1999 for the Oilers as center and team captain. Moreover, won four Stanley Cups for the team before being traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 1988.
