The series of twists and turns in the current season of the NHL does not seem to stop. LA made a big announcement of trading goalie Jonathan Quick, for Columbus Blue’s goalie Joonas Korpisalo, and defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov. The news has created a wave of shock for Columbus fans as their star goalie is bidding farewell to the franchise. 

The Columbus Blue Jackets posted a video in tribute to their star goaltender. The video has grabbed the eyes of Blue’s fans with fans bombarding the comment box.

Korpisalo was drafted to the Blue in 2012 and has been a part of innumerable iconic moments for the team. The Finland player has seen many ups and downs in his decade-long tenure with the Blue Jackets. His presence on the ice rink became a mandatory thing for Blues fans, and his departure would surely hurt them. 

The fans are still comprehending the fact that jersey number 70 won’t be present with the team. Korpisalo has given some memorable nights to the fans and fans acknowledged his contribution. A fan wrote, “Thanks for everything you did for us Korpi I! Hope you win the Stanley Cup with LA.”

The Star Gold tender has given his best every time he stepped foot on the ice rink. Fan wished him the best for the future as he wrote, “Good Luck Korpi!! Thank you for your service with the Union and blue.”

Although the star goalie was having a rough patch during this season his stats have been exceptional. A fan highlighted the same fact. Korpisalo wrote, “85 saves in the bubble and solid tendy after Bob left.” What made him stand out wasn’t just his in-rink performances but how he behaved outside the rink. A fan recalled a similar incident when he met the star goalie outside the game. “I found him shopping one day back in 2019. Good luck in LA.”

After spending more than 10 seasons with the Jackets, the 28-year-old goalie became an integral part of the city as well. “We will miss him here in Columbus”, a fan wrote on the Facebook post. With a new team, the star goalie comes up with new aspirations.
