He has also found himself in comparison with the legendary Wayne Gretzky, mainly due to their shared team of Edmonton Oilers. He further added, “No further ado! Here are the keys, it’s your ride”, handing over the keys to one of the elderly people at the center. McDavid’s presence in there itself made those kids extremely happy. However, it was his added touch of grace and his act of kindness that made it a rather memorable one.
He was not only generous with his gift but also very generous with his time with those kids. The short video showed him hanging out with various kids and taking the occasional selfie, as is the norm, with some of them. All the kids were all smiles and cheery, as their day had just gotten better.
McDavid’s long-term philanthropic efforts with Edmonton’s Indigenous groups
McDavid isn’t new to philanthropy and has also been involved with Edmonton’s Indigenous community for quite some time now. He has raised up to $85,000 to date, in an attempt to help indigenous children play sports. It is an initiative taken by Canadian Tire’s Sport as a platform for the Resiliency Program, which will include up to 7000 indigenous children taking up sports.
