“Praying for This Young Man”: 19-Year-Old Sensation’s Career-Threatening Injury Leaves NHL World Saddened

Injuries and ice hockey go hand in hand. Although minor injuries are pretty common on the ice rink, at times, ice hockey fans witness some terrible accidents which might be even life-threatening. Recently, extremely unpleasant news came out of the Finnish Hockey sphere, as a 19-year-old NHL prospect got terribly injured in an accident during a game.

The NHL fans came together and expressed their grief as the Facebook page Hockey Beast shared the news with the ice hockey fans. Ice hockey fans reached the comment section to drop in their notes of concern for the young boy.

An injury that might have ruined Jakub Kos’ bright career

Young ice hockey sensation Jakub Cos suffered a severe injury due to a horrible accident. The incident unfolded itself in the third period of the game with 14:30 minutes left on the clock. As the Koovee were trying to attack the opponent’s post, the defenders were trying to stop the attack. And during this heat, as Kos tried to chase the puck, while Hermes’ Eemeli Ylitao chased Kos. Further, as both the players moved swiftly to the board, Ylitao ended up pushing Kos from the back, leading the 19-year-old to rush into the boards.

After the clash, Kos remained still and wasn’t able to move which frightened the onlookers of the game. The youngster was having a brilliant season. However, the recent development has forced many, including Kos, to think if he has reached a career cul-de-sac. According to The Hockey Beast, the Finnish media reported that Kos has suffered a broken neck.

Although his future in hockey is uncertain, it is more than a miracle that the situation didn’t get more serious. Finnish hockey journalist Tiia Honkamaa wrote, “Kos has a fracture on his neck and it’s a miracle he wasn’t paralyzed. There is no timeline for his return as there is a high chance he can’t play at all anymore.” 

NHL fans were quick to wish him a healthy recovery.

NHL fans reacted to the terrible mishappening in Finland

On the Facebook page, The Hockey Beast updated the fans about the severe injury the 19-year-old youngster suffered. They captioned, “This is absolutely gutting. Just 19-years-old… Sending thoughts and prayers “ Naturally, the fans felt extremely saddened as they watched this horrible accident taking place. 

The fans wrote,

“Praying for this young man”

“Hope he will be fine soon, and hope he will be able to play hockey 🏒!! Skore uzdravenie 🙏”

“…when watching these injuries I always remember Luděk Čajka 🇨🇿 Please no more these fails 🙏”

“There is definitely a bit of a push but the player also took the lane and stopped somewhat abruptly leaving the other guy not much choice.”

The awful accident and severe injury have saddened the NHL world, as the future is uncertain for the talented youngster.
