Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo was held back from the game after spearing Tampa Bay Lightning’s forward Corey Perry. The excitement among the players reached its peak yesterday when the Flyers were engaged in a brawl with the Lightnings. While the referees tried to handle the situation, DeAngelo suddenly poked Perry with his spear.

Flyer’s fans were surprised when the team signed him as a free agent for the off-season since DeAngelo has a record of anger issues. Though he was stable and doing great throughout, the brawl made him lose his calm and that eventually led to the misconduct. Recently, the Facebook fan page of the Flyers shared this piece of news on their page that caught the eye of the fans. The NHL fraternity went berserk over his mischief and shared their thoughts. NHL star discharged after showing disrespectful gesture

On this Tuesday, when the Tampas were beating the Phillies 5-2, things got heated between the teams. After a while, losing his temperament, DeAngelo speared Tampa’s forward in the groin. As a punishmenthe received a 5-minute major for this game misconduct. After the incident, The Tampas didn’t wait for the referee and engaged in a tussle with Tony. Post-match, DeAngelo told the media, “I took 30 punches on the ground…and when I get up, they don’t let me do what I’ve got to do.”

While referring to the confrontation, the defenseman pleaded, “I was trying to give him a little shot. I wasn’t looking for it to go there.” As per DeAngeloCorey tried to slash the stick from his hand, so he wanted to pick a bone with him in return. However, if that was his intention, he missed it and hurt Perry in the pelvic area, and soon, things took another turn. DeAngelo revealed that what he did was unintentional, and he disagreed with the circumstances he had to face.

 

A fan page named Let’s Go Flyers posted this news on their Facebook page and captioned it with, “He paid the price”. NHL has not announced any other punishment for the Flyers’ star, yet. Nevertheless, the fans condemned this gesture from the defenseman and shared their views through comments.

Fans show discontent through comments

Referring to the incident, fans penned their discontent and wrote –

“Stupid a***d thing to do. Torts will bench his a**”

“At least Tony can hit something.”

“Screw TB. This is what hockey goons do, LOL”

“Dirty play u guys only defending him because he is a flyer typical Philly fan base”

While others took the incident lightly. As one hilariously wrote, “That’s called a cup check, I think there’s an equipment violation here.” Someone also criticized his gameplay and wrote, “TDA needs to cut after his suspension is over. He has no discipline and really isn’t a good NHL hockey player.”
